Terms & Conditions of Booking with Sunshine Coast Bus Lines

These Terms and Conditions govern your booking with Sunshine Coast Bus Lines (SCBL), a charter operator based at Page St, Kunda Park, Queensland (ABN 12 163 235 069). SCBL is part of the Waggie Group. By confirming a booking with us, you accept these Terms.

If anything in these Terms is unclear, please contact us before confirming your booking. We're happy to discuss any clause and explain how it applies to your situation.

1. Application of These Terms

1.1 Your booking is accepted subject to these Terms. By confirming your booking, you accept that these Terms apply.

1.2 These Terms cannot be varied by any of our employees, agents, or other representatives unless agreed in writing by SCBL management. Our right to waive any rule or amount payable does not constitute a waiver on any other occasion.

1.3 SCBL provides ground transport services across Queensland and interstate. From time to time, services may be provided by a Waggie Group partner brand or accredited subcontractor that meets our quality and safety standards. In such cases, your contract remains with SCBL and these Terms continue to apply.

2. The Australian Consumer Law

These Terms do not limit certain rights and guarantees for consumers that exist under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)).

Services provided in Australia (including ours) come with consumer guarantees that cannot be excluded, including:

Where we fail to provide services in accordance with these guarantees, you may have rights to seek a remedy under the Australian Consumer Law.

3. Quotation and Booking

Prices are current at the time of quotation and subject to availability at the time of booking. All quoted prices include 10% GST.

Notwithstanding the quoted price, any subsequent increases in applicable third-party charges (airport charges, road tolls, entry fees, parking charges) will be payable by you.

A quotation is not a confirmed booking. We do not accept tentative bookings. A written booking confirmation will be provided once a deposit has been received (where applicable) and the booking has been entered into our system.

4. Deposit and Payment

4.1 Standard bookings. A deposit of 25% of the booking price is required to confirm the booking. The balance is due no later than 4 days prior to the date of travel.

4.2 Credit account customers. If you hold an approved credit account with the Waggie Group, deposits are not required for bookings within your credit limit. Where the booking price (or multiple bookings in the same period) exceeds your credit limit, you must pay a deposit equal to the difference.

4.3 International customers. Customers based outside Australia must pay the full booking price no later than 7 days prior to travel.

4.4 Long-haul charters. Multi-day charters (Cairns, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth) may require a larger deposit reflecting pre-booked accommodation and other up-front commitments. Specific terms will be communicated in your booking confirmation.

5. Additional Charges

Airport parking and toll fees are included in standard coach rates where applicable. Additional parking and toll fees are not included in city-to-city touring rates and will be charged in addition if incurred under your itinerary.

National Park entry fees are not included in coach rates. If your itinerary requires National Park entry and we incur entry costs, you will be responsible for those fees.

Any new third-party charges or increases in statutory charges (tolls, parking fees, GST, fuel levy adjustments, or similar) during the period between quote and travel may be passed through to you.

6. Payment Methods

We accept the following payment methods:

Bus Bucks loyalty currency may be redeemed against eligible bookings as advised at the time of booking.

7. Amendments to Bookings

Any amendment to your booking after confirmation is subject to availability. Requests for amendments must be made in writing (email or contact form) and will be confirmed in writing by us.

We may charge an amendment fee of up to $50 (unless substantial change management is required, in which case a larger fee may be agreed in writing) in addition to any other applicable charges (such as new tolls, additional driver hours, or accommodation changes for multi-day trips).

8. Extensions to Bookings

Where you choose to extend the duration of your booking, additional charges (including charges levied by venue or accommodation providers) will be payable by you. Extensions on the day of travel are subject to driver availability and NHVR-compliant driving hour limits.

9. Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be made in writing (email to bookings@sunshinecoastbuslines.com.au or via the contact form). The following standard cancellation terms apply:

Long-haul charters (Cairns, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth) have custom cancellation terms agreed at the time of booking, reflecting multi-day commitments and pre-booked accommodation along the route. These will be communicated in writing in your booking confirmation.

Force majeure. If a booking cannot proceed due to circumstances outside reasonable control (natural disasters, government health orders, road closures, etc.), we will work with you to reschedule or refund on a case-by-case basis.

You will be responsible for any cancellation fees charged by third parties (venues, accommodation providers, event organisers) where those have been incurred on your behalf as part of your booking.

10. Conduct During Travel

10.1 Dress standards. All passengers must conform to minimum dress standards: shirt, shorts/trousers/skirt, and footwear.

10.2 Food and beverages. Food and beverages are not to be consumed on any vehicle without prior written approval. Where approved, a bond may be required to cover the risk of damage. Your responsibility for any damage is governed by these Terms.

10.3 Smoking. Smoking and vaping are not permitted on any of our vehicles, including any onboard restroom. This is required by law and is non-negotiable.

10.4 Bulk storage. We do not offer refrigerated bulk storage for plant or animal products including food items. Due to hygiene, disease, vermin, and other passenger comfort considerations, we do not allow carriage of bulk quantities of foodstuffs.

11. Luggage

11.1 Responsibility. You are responsible for all luggage, carry-on items, and personal possessions. We accept no responsibility and will not be liable for damage to (unless caused by our negligence), theft of, or loss of any luggage while on our premises or aboard a vehicle.

11.2 Prohibited items. We may refuse carriage of any luggage if we reasonably believe it is: unsafe; a hazardous substance or dangerous good; likely to be damaged during travel; or likely to cause damage to other passenger luggage or property. In the event we refuse to carry luggage, you hold sole responsibility for any costs of alternate transport for that luggage.

11.3 Unclaimed luggage. If luggage is left on one of our vehicles, we will make reasonable efforts to identify the owner and notify them. Collection is the passenger's responsibility, and any freight fees for transporting the item to an alternative location are at the passenger's cost. We will store unclaimed items as lost property for 90 days. After 90 days, items may be disposed of at our discretion. We accept no liability for any loss, expense, or inconvenience.

12. Scheduling and Punctuality

We will use our best efforts to arrive, depart, and reach destinations at the scheduled times. However, timely service is dependent on factors beyond our reasonable control (traffic, weather, road conditions, mechanical issues, third-party delays). We do not guarantee specified departure or arrival times.

When making travel plans, we recommend you allow time for contingencies, particularly for connections to flights, ceremonies, or other time-critical events. Travel insurance covering unexpected disruptions is recommended for multi-day or interstate bookings.

13. Liability

Under the Australian Consumer Law, you may be entitled to a remedy for breach of consumer guarantees (for example, delays or cancellations attributable to us). Factors relevant to any remedy include the reason for the issue, the length of any delay, advance notice provided to you, and whether we remedied the issue (such as providing a replacement vehicle within a reasonable time).

Our liability for breaches of consumer guarantees is, to the extent permitted by law, limited to:

To the extent permitted by law, you are responsible for any additional costs or expenses (including charges from third parties) if your booking does not run to schedule. Where third-party services (venues, accommodation, activities) form part of your booking, you will be subject to those third parties' terms with respect to their services. We have no liability for losses caused by the negligence, act, or omission of any third party.

14. Damage to Vehicle

You are responsible for any damage to a vehicle caused by a passenger on your booking. You will not be responsible for damage caused by SCBL employees or contractors. Damage assessment is conducted in line with industry-standard valuation; reasonable repair costs will be invoiced where appropriate.

15. Right to Refuse Travel

We reserve the right to refuse travel or remove a passenger from a vehicle where the passenger:

Refusal of travel in these circumstances does not entitle the passenger or group to a refund.

16. Compliance with Road Transport Law

Coach hire is subject to current Road Transport, Passenger Vehicle, and Occupational Health and Safety regulations issued by the appropriate authority in each State and Territory where the hire is conducted.

SCBL reserves the right to enforce its legal obligations in compliance with the law in all aspects of service provision, including but not limited to:

17. Privacy

Your personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which sets out how we collect, use, and protect information in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles.

18. Disputes and Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Any disputes arising from your booking will, where reasonable, be addressed first through direct communication with SCBL. If unresolved, the parties may seek mediation or pursue legal remedies through the courts of Queensland.

19. Updates to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our services, legal requirements, or business practices. The most current version is always available on this page. Significant changes will be noted by updating the "last updated" date below. Bookings made before an update are governed by the Terms in effect at the time of booking confirmation.
