Perth is approximately 4,300km from our Kunda Park depot — about five to six days driving each way across the Nullarbor, with planned overnight stops, multi-driver rotation under NHVR fatigue rules, and accommodation coordinated along the route for both drivers and passengers.
Most groups travelling between Queensland and Perth fly, but a small number of bookings each year are genuinely better suited to coach travel. Common reasons groups choose coach for the Perth run:
We're a Queensland-based charter operator, and Perth isn't a route we run weekly. But if it's the right option for your group, we'll plan the route, manage NHVR-compliant driver hours and rotations, coordinate overnight accommodation, and quote the trip transparently.

Most of our charter work happens closer to home. Sunshine Coast Bus Lines (SCBL) operates from our Kunda Park depot across Queensland and along the east coast:
Perth is our longest specialty route — quoted on enquiry for the occasional group that needs it.

About 5-7 days each way driving, depending on the route taken across the Nullarbor and how many overnight stops your itinerary includes. We plan rest stops and driver rotations in line with NHVR fatigue rules. The trip is never planned as a direct point-to-point transfer — it's always structured as a multi-day journey with proper overnight stops.
Common reasons we hear: airfare costs for larger groups outweigh the time saving; a member of the group can't fly (medical, accessibility, or personal preference); the journey itself is part of the experience as a touring trip; or the group has equipment that's expensive to fly. Most Perth-bound groups still fly, but the bookings we do get fall into one of these categories.
Generally west via the Newell Highway through NSW into South Australia, then across the Nullarbor on the Eyre Highway. Specific overnight stops depend on the itinerary — common ones include Dubbo, Broken Hill, Port Augusta, Ceduna, Eucla, Norseman, and Kalgoorlie. We can adjust the route to include touring destinations along the way.
National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) rules cap continuous driving hours and require minimum rest periods. For a Sunshine Coast to Perth charter, we use multi-driver rotation and plan overnight accommodation stops along the route. Driver hours and rest periods are tracked throughout. Safety on long-haul work isn't negotiable.
Mid-size to large groups typically work best (20+ passengers) because the per-head cost over the trip is more competitive against airfares. Smaller groups can still book, but it's worth comparing against flight alternatives first. We're happy to quote whatever size group you have.
Four months or more is sensible. The trip needs detailed itinerary planning, advance booking of accommodation along the route, and driver scheduling. The earlier you contact us, the more options we have for routing and timing.
Long-haul charters have custom cancellation terms agreed at booking, reflecting the multi-day commitment and pre-booked accommodation. Standard policy (14+ days: full refund, 7-14 days: 50%, under 7 days: case-by-case) applies as the baseline.
Sunshine Coast Bus Lines (SCBL) runs charters from our Kunda Park base across Queensland and the east coast. Pick a destination above for details on that route.
