Local work, modern fleet, three generations of family ownership.
Sunshine Coast Bus Lines (SCBL) has been moving groups across South-East Queensland since 1964. We're family-owned, locally based at Kunda Park, and we run a mixed charter book — weddings, school excursions, corporate shuttles, sporting groups, airport transfers, and the occasional long-haul touring run. That mix is what most of our drivers say keeps the work interesting.
If you're an experienced driver tired of FIFO rotations or the grind of urban route work, SCBL might suit. Most charters start and end at our Kunda Park depot or close to it. Long-haul runs are the exception, not the norm.
Most charter work is day-trip or evening. No two-week FIFO swings, no overnighting unless it's a multi-day touring charter (and those are quoted separately).
3-seater V-Class executive sedans through to 80-seater Tourismo coaches. Regularly serviced, modern interiors, real comfort for both passengers and drivers.
Wedding shuttles in Maleny on a Saturday, school excursion to Australia Zoo on a Wednesday, BNE airport transfer for a corporate group the next day. The variety keeps the work interesting.
SCBL isn't owned by a private-equity firm or a multinational. It's a Sunshine Coast family business that's been running coaches out of Kunda Park since 1964. That shows up in how drivers are treated.
SCBL is actively recruiting for the following roles. Apply via the form below, or call 0409 661 342 for an informal chat about whether the role suits.
Full-time, part-time, and casual options. Driving the full SCBL coach range — Sprinter mini-buses through to 80-seater Tourismo coaches — on a mix of wedding, school, corporate, sporting, and airport-transfer charters.
Multiple positions
Casual driver for V-Class, Sprinter, and Rosa/Coaster work (7-25 seaters). Common bookings: wedding party shuttles, hen's/bucks' groups, smaller corporate transfers, retirement community day trips. Often suits semi-retired drivers or weekend-focused casuals.
Casual positions
Workshop role maintaining the SCBL Mercedes fleet at Kunda Park. Scheduled servicing, brake and suspension work, electrical diagnostics, pre-trip inspections. HV mechanical experience essential; Mercedes-Benz familiarity highly regarded.
1 position
Office-based at Kunda Park. Handling charter enquiries, building quotes, coordinating driver allocations, managing the booking calendar. Suits someone organised, confident on the phone, and comfortable with our booking system.

Whether you're applying for the charter coach role or the mini-bus role, the baseline requirements are the same. We're happy to discuss less-common configurations — just call before applying.
If you're newer to the industry and don't yet have all the above, we'd still like to hear from you. We've trained drivers up from LR to HR licences before, and we keep a database of expressions of interest for when positions open.
Submit the form below and we'll be in touch within one business day. For an informal chat first, call 0409 661 342 or email contact@sunshinecoastbuslines.com.au.
HR (Heavy Rigid) is the minimum for our mini-buses and smaller coaches. HC (Heavy Combination) opens up the larger coach work. You also need a current Queensland Driver Authorisation issued by Transport and Main Roads, and a Blue Card (Working with Children Check). If you're newer to the industry and don't have all of these yet, we still want to hear from you — we've helped drivers step up from LR to HR before.
Both. Charter work is seasonal — wedding season (October to April), school excursion peak (Term 2 and 3), and event-driven runs all create casual demand. We have full-time drivers who carry the year-round load, plus a pool of casuals who pick up weekends, school runs, or specific events. Tell us in your application which suits you.
We run mining transport charters on an occasional basis — one-off long-haul runs to remote Queensland sites, executive site inspections, contractor group transfers. We are NOT a dedicated FIFO operator running daily shift rotations. So if you're looking for two-weeks-on, one-week-off mining work, we're probably not the right fit. If you want occasional long-haul runs as part of a mixed charter book, we are.
For most of our drivers, it's better than urban route driving or interstate FIFO. Most charters are day-trip or evening, start and end at Kunda Park. Late returns happen (wedding receptions, concert charters) but you're driving home that night, not flying out for a fortnight. Multi-day touring is the exception — those runs are clearly scoped at the start.
If you arrive with the licence and authorisation already in place, we'll induct you on the fleet, the booking system, and our customer-service standards over your first few shifts. We don't run a formal licence-upgrade programme but if you're keen to step up from HR to HC during your time with us, we'll support it.
We respond to every application within one business day. For driver roles, the typical process is: phone screen, in-person interview at Kunda Park, driving record check, and a depot familiarisation drive. Usually wrapped up within 7-10 days for the right candidate. Casual placements can move faster.
Submit the form on this page or email contact@sunshinecoastbuslines.com.au any time — we'll come back within one business day. For an informal chat, the office line 0409 661 342 is staffed Monday-Friday 8:30am to 5:30pm.
